ROING, Jan 31: All the Dibang Valley Handicapped Welfare Society (ADVHWS) has urged
upon the power department to restore power supply at the Alinye village under the
Anini sub-
Expressing resentment over the poor power supply after repeated pleas, the Society in a letter to the Chief Engineer (Power) Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh urged him to restore the power supply at the earliest to bring succour to the interior border village where the villagers has been reeling under darkness for the last several months.
Citing the Awapani power project which got completely defunct, the ADVHWS anticipated that the power project would be repaired soon. But unfortunately the system did not get repaired and till day there is no sign of improvement in power supply, the sources further rued.
According to the ADVHWS sources, both the generators of the Awapani power projects are out of order for the last several months.
When enquired A K Paul EE Power clarified and disclosed that Alinye DG set burst out several years back and the government does not have sufficient fund to rectify them. “At the same time government has also cut short expenditure on diesel. It is impossible for the department to run the generator”, the EE explained. While mentioning Awapani power project, he said that the Electro & Mechanical department is responsible to look into the issue and is beyond his jurisdiction.
PMU &PIU appointees remain workless

ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Even as months have passed most of the expert appointees under Project Management Unit (PMU) and Project Implementation Unit (PIU) for Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in state are yet to be absorbed in the job. It was in August 2009 that these experts were hired by urban development department on contractual basis and since then these experts have not been engaged in any work.
Most of these appointees were earlier working in various MNCs, NGOs, etc in other states and had come back to serve their own state. The official reason cited for not absorbing them in job is that salaries of these experts have not been given financial concurrence. Now they are living a life of destitutes and emotionally drained to cope with tag of being unemployed. In a press release issued these expert groups from PMU and PIU informed that recently they had submitted memorandum to Urban Development minister seeking his intervention and take appropriate measures in this regard.
For now they are pinning hope that soon government will act swiftly. These experts cannot wait longer to get down to work towards building better future for Arunachal Pradesh. UD secretary who is reportedly out of station could not be contacted despite repeated attempt for his comment.

CYC discuss policy to strengthen party
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: City Youth Congress (NYC), Naharlagun conducted a meeting at Naharlagun yesterday to chalk out plan and policy for strengthening the party.
In his address, Onipha Yangfu, in charge City Youth Congress Committee called upon the office bearers to work unitedly to strengthen the party. All the office bearers of City Youth Congress (CYC) also spoke about critical problems being faced by them while discharging duty. The meeting was presided over the CYC president Giogi Ganga.
Meanwhile the CYC condemned the attack on Rajiv Gandhi University Vice Chancellor Prof K C Belliappa and demanded the state govt to punish the persons involved in the incident. CYC also requested its members to participate in the proposed city clean drive within Itanagar Capital in February and congratulated Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and UD and PWD Minister Nabam Tuki for introducing city bus service under JNNRUM.

Meanwhile, the RGUSU extended its support to the APPSU statement, wherein its president has urged the state Govt to review its decision to name the Hollock Gibbon as the state animal instead of Mithun.
Opposing the clarification given by the wildlife official, the RGUSU said that any act or law could be altered any time by the authority, it is never remain as permanent.
While appealing the APPSU to continue its endeavour to pursue the prominent issue, the RGUSU observed that ‘if the Govt goes for people’s consensus, 90 per cent of the tribal people would say yes because mithun is the only animal of our state which can symbolizes Arunachal as state in mainstream India and the world as a whole’.
City bus service sans shelter irks commuters

ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Though new modernize buses started plying on the road of capital complex formally from Sunday, lack of proper bus shelters is causing unwanted trouble to the commuters of Itanagar and Naharlagun.
In most of the stoppages, bus shelters no longer exist or if present are in bad condition. During the day bus can be seen stopping at their own will as designated shelters have mostly been encroached upon.
In Naharlagun town buses often stop nearby Takar Complex to pick up passengers, as there are no proper bus shelters. Same can be said about area around Max Mart, where too passengers often wait nearby road to avail bus service. Absence of bus shelter in certain pockets of capital road side is creating confusion for the commuters.
“We are happy with this new bus service but till now am not sure about their stop point. It would be great if government built proper bus shelter for the betterment of daily travellers,” said one commuter waiting for bus near Naharlagun market.
Dearth of bus shelters in twin town of Itanagar and Naharlagun adds to the misery of commuters especially during monsoon season. When heavy rain lashes capital complex most of commuters often have to take refugee under tree or building nearby road.
“During rainy days waiting for bus or tracker is quite a herculean task. In the absence of bus shelter commuters face so much of trouble,” told another daily commuters. Even though introducing of new bus service is welcomed, it is hoped that town planner could also dwell into the lack of proper shelter in the capital complex.
Lohit Youth library team to represent Arunachal in Intl conference on children’s libraries
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: The VT-
It will be inaugurated by former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam.
The Lohit team consists of 12 young readers – 7 girls and 5 boys – from Bamboosa Library Tezu, Apne Library Wakro and the Chongkham Libraries. The 8 Arunachalee children in the group are on a trip outside their area for the first time. They will be giving a 15 mts presentation in the Conference on “Reading promotion Campaign in rural Lohit.”
A number of Librarians, renowned authors, publishers and library activists from different countries such as USA, Canada, Japan, Indonesia, and Mongolia are attending the Conference.
The Conference would thus be an excellent opportunity for the library activists from Arunachal to meet renowned writers and experts and to get valuable exposure in many related fields.
It is worth mentioning here that entire stay arrangements of the Lohit team at Delhi have been arranged by Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen. (Retd) J.J. Singh, while the trip of the team has been sponsored by Minister Chowna Mein, MLA Tezu Karikho Kri and MLA Roing Laeta Umbrey. DC Lohit Kaling Tayeng has provided logistic support for all travel arrangements. The local host to the team is Prashant Lokhande, IAS, former Secy to the Governor and currently posted at New Delhi.
Don bosco alumni celebrates the feast of DB
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: The Don Bosco Alumni Association in collaboration with the Don Bosco College and Don Bosco School Jully celebrated the Feast of St. Don Bosco the founding father of the Salesians of Don Bosco spread out all over the world in 132 countries primarily working for young people.
The Programme was a platform to interact with the Don Bosco Alumni and present students of the college and the school. The meeting had an intensive interaction and deliberation about the teachings of Don Bosco Institution and its road map to further carry forth the great works towards the education in this tribal state.
Michi Paku president of the Don Bosco Alumni Association of Arunachal Pradesh, welcomed the members during the cultural programme. He said “Don Bosco the was born in Italy in 1815, the same time when Napoleon Bonaparte was deported to St. Helena Island, away from this world. Unlike Napoleon, Don Bosco’s method of conquering the world was not with weapons of destruction but by love, kindness and patience. He is known as the Apostle of Youth. The DB institutions work for the deprived youths of the world and raise them up for the progress of society.”
Speaking on the occasion the MLA Bamang Felix, who is also one of the Executive members of the Don Bosco Alumni Association, expressed his gratitude towards the education he received from the Don Bosco school . In an emotionally charged speech, Felix said “I am today what I am mainly due to the Don Bosco education I have received and I am proud to be a Bosconian.” He also shared his hostel life experiences and gave exemplary instances of how Don Bosco education has changed his life. He concluded with a note of assurance saying that he will always be there for the Bosconians. He called on the students to avail the maximum opportunities at the Don Bosco institution.
The members of the Alumni Mepung Tadar Bage Vice chairperson Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, Nani Jose Tamang, Assistant Registrar RGU, Dr.Tok Rinyia, Associate professor RGU, Fr. K. O. Sebastian, Principal Don Bosco Jully, Fr. A.D. Jose Parish Priest, Itanagar, Fr. Cyprian Administrator, Don Bosco School Jully and Fr. Cyriac Director Don Bosco Youth Center also spoke on the occasion. The College students and school children performed dances, skits and songs during the day long programme. The programme also comprised of a friendly match between the Don Bosco alumni and the present pupils of Don Bosco School and College Jully.

with the inmates and distributed fruits for them. Fr. Cyriac spoke on the inculcation
of positive self in ones life in spite of punishment received for the wrong action
taken in their lives. He expressed that one should never give up hope in one’s life
